and classical school for Shreveport-Bossier City area.

offer?

Ninth grade for the 2012-2013 school year.
How do students do if they need to transfer out
to another school due to moves, etc.?
Our students are being trained to excel in academics, especially
in the essential and fundamental areas of reading and math. If you nurture
students to be great readers, to thrive in math, and to love learning,
they will thrive in any academic subject in any school. Quite honestly,
the one problem we have seen regarding this (echoed by other classical
schools) is the students are so advanced that they are bored by the dumbed-down
academic environment of other schools.
What about those transferring students in, how
do they do?
The earlier the student enters is always better. During earlier
grades, we teach through repetition, so that even new students can usually
catch on. However, when they enter in later grades, it can be more difficult
to catch on if the fundamentals are not there. Right now all the students
in grades 3rd through 5th are relatively new to the classical approach
and so most new students would assimilate well at this time.
What are some of Providence Classical
Academy 's goals and dreams? Where is Providence Classical Academy
headed?
Providence Classical Academy plans
on adding grades until it offers Kindergarten through twelfth grades.
Providence Classical Academy aspires to offer the best academic education
available in the area, where students are immersed in the great books
and ideas of western culture, and learn how to both appreciate and criticize
those ideas from the standpoint of a Biblical view of all subjects. Providence
Classical Academy's greatest dream is to glorify God by offering an education
that prepares the next generation of Christian leaders.
What is unique about Providence Classical Academy?
Providence Classical Academy offers a classical education that emphasizes
the centrality of the written and spoken word, the centrality of a "goal"
in education? forming wise and virtuous young men and women, the centrality
of the past, the centrality of the classical languages (Latin and Greek),
and the centrality of rigorous thinking, speaking and writing. We believe
the classical model, and our particular understanding of the relationship
between the Gospel and the formation of young men and women is unique.
What does it cost to attend Providence Classical
Academy?
To be updated.
What is Providence Classical Academy 's current
student/teacher ratio?
Providence Classical Academy currently has a student/teacher
ratio of 7:1. We have a cap on class size of 16.
Is Providence Classical Academy only for brilliant
children?
No. While we are very proud of our students, we have found that
virtually every student can thrive in the Christian and classical educational
model. When you raise the bar, students do rise to the occasion!
Why study Latin?
Latin (and Greek) are the languages of Western culture, and for
that reason alone are worthy of attention. However, Latin should be studied
because it is simply an excellent way to train the mind to look for detail,
and the study of Latin simply trains the student how to think well. Additionally,
the study of Latin is excellent preparation for other subjects (advanced
math and sciences), and helps students to understand English more thoroughly.
Does Providence Classical Academy offer
